The travel experts at have named the Gardens at the Franciscan Monastery of the Holy Land one of the 15 best gardens in the Washington, DC Capital Region. In her article, author Rachel Cooper noted that “The Washington, DC area has many beautiful public gardens with a wide variety of plants, trees, and flowers. These places offer seasonal displays and special programs to delight everyone from the casual visitor to the serious gardener.  Each destination has something unique to see. Bring a camera and capture some of the region’s most colorful displays.” The gardens chosen are located in DC, Maryland and Virginia.

The Franciscan Monastery is humbled by our inclusion on this list. Although we agree our gardens are truly beautiful, don’t take our word for it or Rachel Cooper’s. Schedule a visit to tour our gardens and find out for yourself!
