Celebrate the Solemnity of the Assumption of Mary with the friars and friends of the Franciscan Monastery with a vigil Mass for the Holy Day of Obligation in our Lourdes Grotto at 7:00 p.m.  Msgr. Ray East, pastor of St. Teresa of Avila Church, Southeast, will preside and preach.  The choir from St. Anthony of Padua Parish, Brookland, will lead the singing.

As part of the archdiocese’s “Walk with Mary” program, the friars will host a replica of the tilma of Our Lady of Guadalupe during the Solemnity of the Assumption. The tilma will be welcomed at the beginning of the Vigil Mass  in the Lourdes Grotto.

In case of inclement weather, the mass will be celebrated in the church

The tilma will also be available for veneration on August 15 in the sanctuary of the monastery church.
