STATEMENT
The Friars of the Franciscan Monastery join in prayer for the passing of Pope Francis.
Pope Francis had a deep love for St. Francis of Assisi. He chose his name in honor of him and tried to live according to his example: showing mercy, humility, and care for the poor.
In 2014, the Holy Father traveled to the Holy Land and visited the sacred places cared for by the Franciscans of the Custody of the Holy Land. Throughout his time as Pope, he stayed close to the Holy Land. He often spoke with care for the Christian communities living there and shared his deep concern for peace in the land of Jesus.
May the choir of angels joyfully welcome him into the house of the Father.
