Chuyoung Suter, organist and pianist, is a musician known for her passionate, rhythmic, and lyrical playing. She is Organist of Augustana Lutheran Church in Washington DC. A native of Korea, she holds degrees in organ performance from Ewha Women’s University in Seoul and from Yale University. Her teachers have been professors Moon-Kyung Chae, Thomas Murray, and Martin Jean. She has held positions as organist at several churches in Korea and in the US. She also taught piano at the Potomac School in McLean, Virginia; and Boy and Girls Choristers at Washington National Cathedral, Washington DC. Mrs. Suter won first prize in the Scholarship Competition of Westminster Choir College in Princeton, New Jersey. She was also selected as a finalist in the Grand Prix de Chartres International Organ Competition. Mrs. Suter was selected to be one of twelve finalists for Dallas International Organ Competition in Texas. She has recorded three CDs with the St. Francis Episcopal Church Choir, Potomac, Maryland. She has private piano students and she gives recitals and performs with many different ensembles in the Washington area. In addition to the music career, she is a dedicated group fitness instructor and a personal trainer who works for U.S. fitness clubs in the DC metropolitan area. In her leisure time, she enjoys playing golf and skiing with her husband, son and friends.
