Celebrating 800 Years of the Living Nativity in Greccio

This December is the 800th anniversary of St Francis creating a Living Nativity Scene in the small Italian village of Greccio, to bring Bethlehem close to those who would never have the chance to be in the birthplace of Jesus Christ.

To celebrate this great anniversary, our Franciscan Monastery of the Holy Land will host several events including an exhibition of nativity scenes from around the world, from the collections of several people from the DC area.

Plan to visit our nativity scene exhibit, showing December 3 through January 7.

The exhibition is just one of the events ahead. Below is a list of all the events that will accompany us in the coming weeks until Christmas time:

December 3: Opening of the Festivities. Mass and Blessing of the Creches Exhibition – 11:00 a.m.
December 8: Immaculate Conception. Blessing of the Onesies after the 7:00 a.m. Mass
December 10: Music@Monastery with Brass of Peace – 4:00 p.m.
December 16-24: Christmas Novena-Sibang Gabi – 6:00 a.m.
December 24: 11:00 a.m. Mass followed by the Blessing of the Luminaria
December 24-25: Christmas Masses – 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. – Midnight – 11:00 a.m.
January 6: 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.: Family Day
January 7: Christmas Concert – 4:00 p.m. Last Day of the Creches Exhibition
